HKT is kicking off the summer with many new and varied projects. Our work has expanded to include several new opportunities recently, including the following:
The Seth Ventress Building Renovation At the May 5th Town Meeting in Marshfield, funding was appropriated for the restoration of the historic Seth Ventress Building, which currently houses the school administrative offices. The building will be completely renovated and restored, and updated for code and accessibility. To read the complete article in The Marshfield Mariner, click here
Society of St. John the Evangelist Funding has been approved for the design and construction documents for the Society of St. John the Evangelist, an historic Anglican monastery located in Cambridge. These will be based on the sustainable masterplan that HKT completed for SSJE in 2005, with construction starting as early as June 2009.
Codman Academy Charter Public School Masterplan HKT has begun work on a masterplan for Codman Academy, a public charter school in Dorchester. The masterplan is for a new 28,000 sf facility incorporating sustainable design concepts, which will support the school's continuing expansion and growth. The new facility will be shared with the Codman Square Health Center, which is the current home of the hub of Codman Academy today.
University of New Hampshire - Residential Life Architectural Services
HKT has been selected to work with the University System of New Hampshire for a house doctor contract with the following colleges: University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State College, and Keene State College. The scope of work includes architectural projects involving residence halls throughout the campuses.
Community College System of New Hampshire HKT is working with Lakes Region Community College of Laconia, New Hampshire, and Nashua Community College of Nashua, New Hampshire. For the Laconia campus, a masterplan is being prepared for the entire college, as well as a study to develop and evaluate a conceptual design for the construction of a new Automotive and Marine Technology Center to accommodate the General Motors Automotive Services Education Program (ASEP) as well as a new Generic Automotive Program, whereas Marine Technology will accommodate instructional areas that combine classroom, shop and diagnostic and water test facilities as well as a boat maintenance facility. At Nashua Community College, we are performing a study to evaluate the design and cost to expand the current Automotive Technology program.
Town of Weston, Department of Public Works
At the last Town Meeting, the Town of Weston voted to appropriate design fees for the New Department of Public Works Facility. Conceptual designs have been produced, and construction is slated to start in June 2009. Features of the new facility include administrative offices, employee facilities, workshops, maintenance garage and vehicle storage.
Town of Chelmsford, Department of Public Works and Fire Station HKT and Weston and Sampson are set to begin work on a feasibility study for a new DPW facility and fire station for the Town of Chelmsford. The scope of work includes identifying potential building and site alternatives, conceptual designs and cost estimates, and assisting in Town Meeting presentations.
