Cohasset Town Hall
The Cohasset Town Hall is an historic structure built in 1857 with Town Offices on the first floor and a meeting room on the second floor. Over the building’s 155 year history, space needs evolved, requiring modifications, including a jail, library, gymnasium, auditorium, theater, and office space. Currently the Town Hall is comprised of the original building, Old Town Hall, and an addition, New Town Hall. The Old Town Hall configuration remains as built during a 1928 renovation project which located office space on the second floor and a Theater Auditorium on the first floor.
HKT Architects has completed a BIM-based study for the renovation and restoration of the Town Hall. The study will focus on the re-organization of town operations and departments to create a more interactive and efficient experience for those doing town business. The original 1857 structure will be restored to its original configuration with the auditorium on the second floor and offices on the first. The more recent addition will be renovated with a new façade that is more sympathetic to the original structure. A new universal access way will be created at the entrance.
