Deerfield Highway Facility
At the 2012 Spring Town Meeting the Town of Deerfield voted to approve building a new Department of Public Works facility. This new facility will be located in the center of Town, adjacent to where operations have been held for over sixty years. Located in a residential area, on a site where the Town hopes to attract future development, the proposed facility minimizes operational noise through the creation of a three-sided courtyard and vegetated buffer.
The facility will consist of an efficient administration area, a two-bay maintenance building, vehicle staging and prep area, sand and salt shed, fuel island and exterior storage. Planned spaces serve multiple functions where spaces are designed to meet the various needs of a small town DPW. The project meets sustainable Massachusetts Green Committee goals through a highly insulated building envelope, energy efficient mechanical and electrical design practices, and careful siting of the facility to maximize passive solar heating.
