Truro Police/Fire/Rescue Facility

Truro, MA

+ Overview

After a comprehensive feasibility study, Truro decided to build a new 21,800 square foot facility to relocate and centralize the Town’s police, fire, and rescue services. Previously housed at three separate locations, operations for these services were inadequate and inefficient.

With the site located on Cape Cod, the design was sensitive to its surroundings and looked heavily to New England building typology, drawing from precedents in regard to the use of traditional high-pitched roofs, weathered shingles, and traditional wood trim work. In addition, the design team carefully controlled the overall scale of the building by strategically breaking down the mass of the building into several smaller forms.

The new police station features include an administrative area, dispatch center, work area, training room, locker rooms, and lock-up facility. The fire station features a three-bay drive-through area, offices, meeting rooms, and storage space.
