The Doyle Conservation Center

+ Overview

The design goal for this project was to develop a state-of-the-art administrative and training facility for the Trustees of Reservations, the oldest land trust in the country. The new center supports critical mission-driven activities, including land conservation, planning and ecology, historic resources, education and interpretation, and volunteer management.

The design phase followed an extensive strategic planning effort that identified projected growth needs over ten years and studied uses for the 350-acre Doyle Reservation. The final design reflects staff additions and advances in technology, raises the organization’s profile through innovative design, and achieved LEED Gold certification. Over a ten-year period, the project involved a three-phase implementation of new construction and adaptive reuse of the complex.

The Doyle Conservation Center houses key conservation research and training functions. The Center is a model for the organization’s values and a showcase facility for land conservation study, training, and mentoring that will serve the hundreds of municipal conservation efforts and small volunteer-run land trusts throughout the region.
